16 Things That Will Be Happening When You Are Unable to Handle or Cope With Tough Times

 


Even though tough times do not last, people find it hard to cope. When you cannot cope or handle your tough times, so many things will be happening in your life. They are always negative. Here are some of those things that will be happening or shinning in your life.

1.      1. Frustration: It is a feeling of annoyance at being hindered or criticized. It is the act of frustrating; disappointment; defeat. It is the feeling that accompanies an experience of being thwarted in attaining your goals. When you cannot handle or cope with your tough times, certainly, you will give in to frustration or become frustrated and you can no longer managed yourself. Frustration can make people to give up on their dreams.

2.       2. Despair/despondent: Despair is the feeling that everything is wrong and nothing will turn out well. It is to abandon hope; give up hope; lose heart. It is loss of hope; utter hopelessness; complete despondency. It is to be hopeless; to have no hope; to give up all hope or expectation. It is despond, lose all hope, give up all expectation, and be without any hope. When you look closely at the meanings of the term despair, you can see that, it blocked your chances of achieving your dreams or success. This is what happened to you or someone who cannot cope with tough times.

3.       3. Discouragement: It is the act of discouraging, or the state of being discouraged; depression or weakening of confidence; dejection. It is the feeling of despair in the face of obstacles. When you cannot cope with tough times, discouragement set in and when discouragement set in, the person lose the spirit to continue chasing his or her dreams. Most often, people stop chasing their dreams because of discouragement. This is what take place or happen when you cannot cope with tough times.  

4.       4. Depression: Depression is a sad feelings of gloom and inadequacy often experienced by people. It is a mental state or condition characterized by a pessimistic sense of inadequacy and a despondent lack of activity. When you are depress, you become unhappy. And this tend to have a negative impact on you which often leads to inactiveness. It can make someone to become lazy in doing what he or she is supposed to be doing. Depression comes as a result of not being able to cope or handle tough times or hard times. When this happens, you lose the power or strength to keep pursuing your dreams.

5.       5. Distress: Distress is extreme physical pain. It is a state of adversity (danger or affliction or need). It is extreme pain or suffering; anguish of body or mind. It is that which occasions suffering; painful situation; misfortune; affliction; misery. Distress is a stress factor which take away one’s joy or happiness. It a negative impact you or people experience of not being able to handle or cope with difficult or hard times. The ability to cope with adversities is really a great skill or ability. Until you learn to cope or handle your tough times, you will always experience distress which often is a success or dream killer.

6.       6. Dismay: The word, dismay means lower someone’s spirit; make downhearted. It is the feeling of despair in the face of obstacles. To disable with alarm or apprehensions; to depress the spirits or courage of; to deprive or firmness and energy through fear; to daunt; to appall; to terrify. It is the loss of courage and firmness through fear; overwhelming and disabling terror; a sinking of the spirits; consternation. When you cannot cope or handle tough times, dismay often set in and this takes away your joy and negatively affects your emotion. It makes you to lose focus of the object in view. This happened when fear, loss of courage and hope dominate you.

7.       7. Undue sadness or being sorrowful: Another thing that will be happening to you is undue sadness or uncontrolled sorrow. You will often find yourself sad unnecessary why because, you cannot handle your difficult times. When you are always sad, you would not be able to put joy or happiness into your work or duty, your mind will not be steady, you will often indulge in negative thinking and by so doing, you will lack the energy to keep chasing your dreams.

8.       8. Self-destruction or suicide: On a frequent basis, the rate of self-destruction or suicide killing is very alarming. Most often, when you cannot manage your difficult times, the thought of suicide do crept into people’s mind. Most especially, when the hard times are very unbearable. People experience different level of tough times, some people are able to cope with theirs while some others cannot. Situation like this gives room for the thought of suicide. It is always belief that, there nothing more to live for and so, the last option is self-destruction or suicide. To manage your tough times, if your life is empty, fill it up.

9.       9. Marital quarrels, breakups and extra-marital affairs: This factor is peculiar to relationship. When some times, a particular relationship is experiencing downtimes, one or both partners in the relationship cannot cope or handle the situation, the tendency to start showing the above mention behaviors. Very often, marital quarrels can be attributed to inability to cope with the tough times in that relationship.

Marriage breakups is another negative effect of the inability to cope or handle difficult times in the relationship and the rate of this is very high these days. At the extreme, extra-marital affair is the other factor that occur sometimes due to the problem of the inability or failure of the parties in the relationship to bear the difficult times. While at other times, it has nothing to do with the problem or the inability to cope with tough times.

Tough times in relationship can be due to loss of job or means of living, poor finance of the home or the inability to be able to meet up family needs by the husband or both the husband and the wife.

10.   1o. Give up on one’s dreams: This is another side effect of the inability to cope with tough times. Most times, people tend to give up on their dreams because they cannot handle or cope with the tough times they are facing. Everyone has his or her own tough times to manage or cope with. Those who often give up are those who lack the power or the ability tackle their own tough times. The best you can do when you cannot cope with tough times is to always quit or run away or try to avoid the problems. This is why most people who cannot fight their hard times often quit fighting or give up on their dreams.

11.   11. Negative thinking: Tough times do always push people into tight corners. This makes them to indulge in negative thinking. When you cannot cope with your tough times, the tendency to be dominated by negative thinking is very high. You will not be able to filter your thought properly. But those who are able to manage or handle their tough times do not allowed negative thought to get the better of them. They tries to do something positive about their tough times. This is the difference between those who can cope and those who cannot cope with their tough times.

12.   12. Self-disbelief and trusting oneself into defeat: Sometimes, it is very common or too easy for people to start disbelieving themselves. They doubt their capacities or abilities because of the tough times they are facing. They no longer have confidence or faith in themselves. When you no longer have faith or confidence in yourself, there is a higher chance of trusting yourself into defeat. The more you trust yourself or keep trusting yourself into defeat, the more you lose or keep losing. Self-disbelief compound one’s problems because it prevent the person from achieving his or her dreams.

13.   13. Outburst of anger: Anger is a strong passion or emotion of displeasure or antagonism, excited by a real or supposed injury or insult to one’s self or others, or by the intent to do such injury. It is a strong emotion; a feeling that is oriented toward some real or supposed grievance. Anger is a killer. It shortens one’s life if left uncontrolled. It increases the bitterness of the heart and often make people to do what they are not supposed to do. It leads to harming yourself or other people. At the end of the day when the anger is gone you now discovered you have done what you intended not doing, thereby leaving you in regrets.

14.   14. Loss of peace of mind: When one is in a state of having peace of mind, his or her happiness is stable. He or she tends to achieve stability of mind. He or she is more focus and achieve more of his or her dreams or purposes. But when you lose your peace of mind, the reverse is the case. Most often, people lose their peace of mind when they are not capable of handling or coping with their tough times. And when this happened, it often result in depression, increase of stress, worry and anxiety and the likes. It is somewhat difficult for one to achieve his or her goals when he or she has lose his or her peace of mind.

15.   15. Impatient: The word impatient means not patient; not bearing with composure; intolerant; uneasy; fretful; restless, because of pain, delay, or opposition; eager for change, or for something expected; hasty. From the meaning of the word above, it is very obvious that people do not get to achieve some of their dreams owing to lack of patient. Impatient is always a factor of loss of one’s dream or dreams. People take wrong decisions due to impatient. Most times, when you cannot cope with your tough times, impatient pops its ugly face and you give in to it. Impatient has make many people to regret their decisions taken before. Impatient leads people to lose their composure as well.

16.   16. Instability or unstableness or unsteadiness of mind: Another thing that normally happen when you cannot cope with your tough times is the problem of instability of your mind. Your mind begins to wave here and there and moves everywhere. The side effects of this is that it promotes negative thinking and indecisions. Unstableness of mind is one of the reason for why people do not get to catch some of their dreams. They end up making wrong choices which in turn, affect their lives negatively.

Coping with tough times is a great asset to someone who have the ability to cope or handle or manage difficult or hard times. Each and every time we are faced with tough times, we should be mindful of the negative side effects of not being able to cope with it and thus, learn to cope or handle your hard times.
