Self-Killing: 9 Things Which Kill the Inner Self Faster
The inner self or the main or the real or actual you is not
your physical body. It is your spirit. Your spirit affects your body system.
When you spirit is down, your body tend to becomes weaker or weaken. You lose
the strength that you need to move on. But when your spirit is lively and
strong, it gives the body energy and vigor to keep going. There are certain
things that can contribute in killing your inner self or you faster. Here are
some of the things which can kill your spirit:
1. 1. Loss of hope or despair or when you think that there is nothing else worth living for: We are all passing one hard time or the other in our daily living. We experience one form of pain or the other. Life punches each of us very hard but the call of the heart is that we should be strong and stay strong. That is the only way to gain victory one craved for. Due to the several pains some people have experienced and are still experiencing, they easily conclude that there is nothing worth living for. This means that, each time we have this kind of conclusion, we have given up on hope and allowed despair to rule over our lives. By so doing, we are dying gradually. Despair kills the inner self faster than one thinks. No matter how life punches you be strong; and stay strong indeed keeping your hope alive.
2. 2. The inability to overcome regrets: Regrets are big enemies of self. They hold you backward. They imprisoned you. You lose your freedom to be who you want to be. Regrets can make you choose who you do not want to be. It can pushes you out of the path. By so doing, you end up doing the negatives of the positive things you should be doing. Regrets does not allowed the individual to think adequately and properly. It limits the individual judgement of himself or herself. When you hold onto the past mistakes, you cannot get out of your regrets. Most people do not know that mistakes are also learning tools. They are part of ones experiences. The truth is that holding onto the past mistakes and refusing to let go of them is self-killing. So, regrets are deadly to your inner self-healing.
3. 3. Self-distrust: Self-distrust is the absence of self-trust. You are not confident in yourself. You do not think you are capable or good or strong enough, either to do somethings or achieve somethings. It is to view yourself from a lesser or negative perspective. You are not sure of yourself and of who you are. You lack the power of standing firm and of, I can do it spirit. It is to belittle or look down on yourself. Self-distrust weakens the spirit or your spirit. When your spirit is weaken, it will weakens your body system as well. Self-distrust harm one’s spirit or your inner self faster than you think or belief.
4. 4. Negative thought: Thinking is a very difficult activity. Positive thinking helps to promote a healthy mind. When your thinking is negative, it will affects your actions. Negative thinking makes people to do the things they would not do if their thinking were positive. Your thinking is your life. You can mold your life well when it is positive and you can as well shatter your life with it. It is your positive thinking that gives strength to your spirit. Negative thinking on the other hand, kills your spirit or inner self faster. It is like a bomb inside you. When it explode, your mind lose its firmness and tenacity and fixity. Your mind will always be everywhere.
5. 5. Bitter heart: A Ghanaian proverb says that, the bitter heart kills its owner. This is true. There is no doubt about this. When your heart is always bitter, it is the owner that suffers the pains. You will often give in to undue sadness and this further leads to frustration and dismay and distress. Even though happiness is free, you will find it hard to get it. Your peace of mind will always be affected. Happiness gives strength to your broken spirit and put more life into it. The bitter heart really kills the owner because it weakens your spirit.
Happiness is more created within you. It does not depend much on external factors. If you depend much on external sources for your happiness, if they are not forthcoming, you just give up on life. When you allow your sad or painful or negative feeling and emotions to get rid of you or manipulates you; you begin to lose the best of you. And then the worst of you begins to pop up its ugly face. Bitterness of heart is a spirit or inner self killer. To make your heart sweet, learn to be happy.
6. 6. Unforgiveness: When you find it too difficult to forgive your and other people, you will begin to get problem with yourself. Forgiveness free you from regrets and holding onto the past negative actions. Many people today are not free because they have not forgiven themselves for their past bad actions. By so doing, they chain themselves from moving forward. The past should be a pathway to today and then to the future. You are to learn from the past to improve on your today and then to better your tomorrow or future. Unforgiveness is a soul or spirit or inner self killer. It kills you gradually just like sin do. To heal your spirit and keep it strong, learn to forgive yourself and other people.
7. 7. The inability to accept yourself the way you are: The problem of not being able to accept yourself the way you are is also worsening the situation. No person is perfect, we all have one limitation or the other. To deal with this problem, you need to come to terms with yourself to do the needful of accepting yourself the way you are. The best you can be is to be yourself. You must learn to accept yourself with all your imperfections. In this way, you will be able to find solutions to your weaknesses or limitations.
You cannot find solutions to your problems when you have not accepted there is a problem. The more you are failing to accept yourself the way that you are, the more harm you are doing to yourself. Every time you are busy killing yourself trying to be another person or wanting to be the other person instead of learning to be yourself. The singular reason many people are dull and unhappy is because they have actually accept themselves the way they are.
8. 8. Poor or negative self-view or self-image or not thinking well of yourself: Another thing which kills the inner self faster is your poor self-view. The perception that you have about yourself either positive or negative can have effect on you. If your perception about yourself is positive, it strengthens your spirit or inner self. Your confidence comes alive. But a poor self-image kills your confidence and weakens your mind the more. The way you view yourself counts a lot. When you view yourself negatively, your actions tend to follow your negative view. Negative self-perceptions causes more harm than good to your spirit or your inner self. Always see yourself that you are good enough even though you are not perfect.
9. 9. Self-hatred: Self-hatred is shame resulting from strong dislike of yourself or your actions. There are situations where some people do not like themselves for several obvious reasons which is best known to them. The inability to accept yourself the way you are in the above point is one of the reason for self-hatred. Another reason for self-dislike is the physical attraction of a person. Many people do not like themselves because of the way they look. They think they should be more beautiful than the way they actually look.
They are not satisfied with the way they look or the way they are. Unforgiveness is also a factor that cause self-hatred. Self-hatred does more harm than you think. It kills your self-confidence, kills your morale, increases your bitterness of heart, steals your peace of mind, and leads to frustration and more stress and depression. Self-hatred harms or kills your spirit or inner self faster than you know.
To solve the problem of inner self killing,
the individual must begin to appreciate himself or herself. And do the opposite
of the factors described above to promote the inner self or spirit.
