18 Ways to Fight to Be at the Top: Part 1

Getting to the top is a very tough or difficult work. You can only get to the top when you are tough. When the going gets tough, only the tough keeps going. This means that you need to have certain qualities to be able to reach the top. To get to the top is to achieve your purposes. To get to the top is also a choice you have to make. You are all that you choose to be. You cannot be at the top when you choose to be down or at the base. To get to the top, you have all the necessary equipment to do that or achieve that except if you choose not to use your equipment. How you can fight to be at the top involves various ways. Some of these ways are:

1.     1. Curiosity: Curiosity is the disposition to acquire, investigate, or seek after knowledge; a desire to gratify the mind with new information or objects of interest; inquisitiveness. It is that which is curious, or fitted to excite or reward attention.

From our definition of curiosity, curiosity makes one to become critical about what is happening around him or her and tries to find out about them. It makes you to be interested in finding solutions to your problems.

People who go through their problems do so because of their curiosity to solve the problems before them. But those who are not curious about their problems often prefer to go around their problems. So one way to get to the top is curiosity.

2.     2. Self confidence or self-trust: Most times, most people lack faith in what they want to achieve or doubt themselves or their abilities. By so doing, they negatively affect their actions. They no longer have the confidence to do the things they should be doing.

Self-doubt is lack of self-confidence. Confidence or self-confidence or self-trust is freedom from doubt; belief in yourself and your abilities. Doubt steals away your glory. It limits your strength cast a spell on you and makes you unable to think deeply.

Most people make the wrong decision due to doubt or self-doubt. Self-doubt is an enemy of life. It prevent you from getting to the top. As a result of self-doubt, most people often love to grope the low way instead of climbing the high way. Self-doubt is a source of self intimidation. Doubt pulls people away from doing the actual things that count to doing every other things which do not matter. They end up indulging in less important things and spend all their time doing those less important things.

A lack of faith or doubt in yourself and in what you are capable of doing or in your abilities, prevents you from getting to the top. Self confidence or self-trust helps you to get to the top.

3.     3. Readiness: Readiness: Readiness is the prompt willingness. The willingness to do the things whether the things are depressing, disagreeable, distasteful, difficult, displeasing, or unpleasant or even disgusting that you should be doing or should do to make your dreams shine brightly.

This readiness or willingness will help you to be able to restore and reclaim the excellence in you or bring out the best in you. This invariably means that, the unwillingness to take action or the indisposition to action hinders you from getting to the top.

Your readiness to pay the price or face the risks or go through your problems or resist your resistances that does the miracle. Miracle would not happen just like that until you are ready to make it happen.

Readiness is the opposite of procrastination. Procrastination is the habit of procrastinating, or putting off to a future time; delay; dilatoriness. It is slowness as a consequence of not getting around to it. It is dilatoriness, putting off, delay, tardiness, and slowness. Most often, people do not get to do their work on time because of procrastination.

Every time, they keep delaying what they are supposed to do now till later and they end up ignoring and forgetting those things they are actually supposed to do. Procrastination prevents people from getting to the top or from going through their problems. Instead it makes people to pick interest in going around their problems until they end up failing in their duties. It is your readiness that helps you to get to the top.

4.     4. Consistency: Inconsistency is the quality or state of being inconsistent; discordance in respect to sentiment or action; such contrariety between two things that both cannot exist and be true together; disagreement; incompatibility. It is the want of stability or uniformity; unsteadiness; changeableness; variableness.

Consistency is the firmness of constitution or character; substantiality; durability; persistency. It is the congruity, agreement, compatibility, conformableness, correspondence.

When your actions are not equal to your cherished desires, it means that you are not interested in getting to the top. You can only begin to achieve your dreams or get to the top when there is agreement between your desires and your actions.

When your actions cannot co-exist with your desires, there is inconsistency between your actions and your desires. In this case, it will be very difficult to achieve your dreams. To get to the top, consistency is the key to attain this feat.

5.     5. Constancy of conduct: Constancy is the quality of being enduring and free from change or variation. It relates with pertinacity. It is the fixedness or firmness of mind; persevering resolution; especially, firmness of mind under sufferings, steadiness in attachments, or perseverance in enterprise; stability; fidelity.

When you are constant in your required positive conduct, you are able to surmount and overcome obstacles and challenges and difficulties without wavering and indecision. Constancy of conduct helps you to bringout the best in you or the excellence in you.

While inconstancy is the quality or state of being inconstant; want of constancy; mutability; fickleness; variableness; changeableness; vacillation; wavering; unsteadiness; unstableness; instability. Inconstancy of conduct happens when your actions are not compatible with what you actually wanted to achieve. In this case, your actions are not always equal to your desires.

But inconstancy which is the opposite of constancy of conduct makes your mind to be everywhere and thus, weakens and kills the excellence or the best in you. To get to the top, constancy of conduct is an essential and necessary factor.

6.     6. Passion: The term passion means an irrational but irresistible motive for a belief or action. It is a strong feeling or emotion. It is the state of the mind when it is powerfully acted upon and influenced by something external to itself. It is the interest you have towards something. For the purpose of this point, it is the positive passion that we are emphasizing here.

Passion can manifest in two form, the weak passion and the strong passion. When your passion to get to the top is weak or not strong enough, it will be very difficult for you to get to the top. But when you are influenced by your strong passion to succeed that is the beginning of getting to the top. Your strong passion is a motivational factor which helps you in getting or reaching to the top.

7.     7. Diligence: Diligence is a conscientiousness in paying proper attention to a task; giving the degree of care required in a given situation. It is an interested and persevering application; devoted and painstaking effort to accomplish what is undertaken; assiduity in service.

It is the quality of being diligent; carefulness; careful attention; - the opposite of negligence. It is the persevering determination to perform a task. The meaning of diligence here has summarize it all that to get to the top, you must pay proper attention to a task and show persistent or persevering determination.

Without diligence other qualities tend to become weak. So to get to the top, you must display or showcase diligence.

8.     8. Composure: Composure is the steadiness of mind under stress. Stress is the difficulty that causes worry or emotional tension. Getting to the top is very stressful because it is very difficult. Most often, most people tend to withdraw or pull back or desist in the face of difficulty instead of persisting.

Your ability to maintain your steadiness of mind under stress or difficulty is what take you to the top or helps you to get to the top. When you lack composure, your mind will start wavering or be everywhere. This will make you to lose your focus on the object of attention.

Your composure helps you to persist. And the more you persist doing what you should be doing, the more you get to the top or reach the top.

9.     9. Poise: Poise means to prepare (oneslf) for something unpleasant or difficult. It is great coolness and composure under strain.  Getting to the top involves unpleasant or difficult actions or activities. Most times, people do not get to prepare for something unpleasant or difficult.

That is why in the face of meeting something unpleasant or difficult, most people tend to dodge or evade or escape from doing that unpleasant or difficult things. Lack of poise, prevent most people from going through their problems and invariably, hinder them from getting to the top.
