The more some people go after their dreams the more some
other people give up on theirs. This article is intended to bring out the
factors that might be contributing to why most people often give up on their
dreams. Achieving one’s dream is a very difficult task. It requires a whole lot
of things that need to be done or performed in order to bring about the desired
outcome. But most often, people tend to give up on their dreams when it seems
there is no headway or way forward. Below are some filtered reasons why most
people often give up on their dreams too quickly:
1.
Slow
progress: In the process of pursuing our goals, the expectations of people
varies from person to person. Some people are able to bear and wait patiently
for the reward of their labor to start happening but sometimes or most often
the result or reward takes longer time to start showing up. Most people cannot
withstand this type of slow progress and as a way of consoling themselves they
give up chasing their dreams.
2.
Laziness:
Laziness is one of the major reason for certain negative behavior. It makes
people to behave contrary to certain accepted conducts. Lazy people are not
interested in doing and carrying out their works. They prefer wandering about and
taking their unnecessary rest. By so doing, they give up on chasing their
beautiful dreams. The more people give up their dream, the more they suffer
from pains and poverty.
3.
Turning
from toil and hardship: One success principle of Legio Mariae is, “you must
not turn from toil and hardship”. This principle is stated in a very harsh way
or tune but that is the fact. It is a law of nature to suffer before gaining
anything worthwhile. Some people find it too hard to accept this and since they
can no longer bear the burden of the toil and hardship, they quietly give up
chasing their dreams. There is no catching of any worthy dream without toil and
hardship or the ability to cope with adversity.
4.
Loss of
interest: Loss of interest is one of the several reasons for giving up
one’s dream. When you no longer have interest or strong passion for the said
dream, the tendency to give up on the dream is very high. Most often, people
just change their mind on their dream and re-focus it on something else because
of loss of interest. Interest is a big factor in the pursuit of one’s dream. If
such interest is dead or lost, it will definitely kill the dream.
5.
Loss of
focus: It is often said that people catch more what they focus more. The
loss of focus make it hard to chase effectively one’s dream. It is your focus
that strengthens you in chasing and catching your dream. Without strong focus,
you lose touch of the dream and as such, the willingness to continue chasing
your dream die down and eventually, the individual give up on his or her dream.
6.
Fear of
failure: people fear failure and that is why they prefer to give up because
they lack the ability to deal with that fear. Failure is the lack of success.
It means success is not yet achieve. Failure required that I or you or we or
they should try and keep trying and that people fail because they don’t try.
The more you try, the more you succeed. Stop fearing failure because, failure
is not an end in itself.
7.
Fear of
Success: people fear success as well, just as they fear failure. The fear
of success also has led many people to give up their dream. The demand for
success is that success must be pursue and the more you chase it, the more you
catch it. To succeed, you need to try the more in order to be happy with
yourself. As a consequences of not wanting to try the more, most people just
give up their dream for something else.
8.
They
thought they are too old to catch their dreams: Age is a number, a gift. It
is not a barrier towards attaining your dream. Your age no matter how old you
are, has nothing to do with I can’t chase my dream because I am too old. Many
people are holding tight to this which affected them negatively by so doing,
they started losing interest and focus which later resulted in them giving up
their dream. No matter how old you are, you are not too old to chase your
dreams.
9.
They can’t
start over again because it is too late: This is another negative belief or
opinion of people. This is not a fact. It is never too late to start over again.
You can start over and over and over again. That is why, it is said that,
prepared if bidden to return a thousand times to the most depressing duty. So,
you can start over again and it is not a crime to do so. Those who hold unto
this assertion often give up their dream to do something else. So, reject this
statement, ‘it is too late to chase your dream’.
10.
Negative
confession: negative confession is another factor for the high rate of
giving up one’s dream. The more frequent people confess negatively, the more
they think of quitting and the more they quit. Negative confession does more
harm than good. Instead of negative confession, it is better to replace it with
positive words or confessions. You cannot go above the power of your words. So,
confess positively.
11.
The impossibilities
they see: As people try to chase their dream, they try as well to battle
impossibilities. These impossibilities are man- made or self- made or they are
called fake or false impossibilities because they are not actually or really
impossibilities. The moment a challenge or problem or an obstacle is consider
as impossibility, it actually become so to that person and by so doing, the
person give up on the dream because of such impossibilities. False
impossibilities has led lot of people to abandon their dreams. Reject fake or
false impossibilities.
12.
They
can’t cope with the challenges and difficulties: challenges and
difficulties are prices to our greatness but most people do not see them like
that. For you to achieve your dream, you must first of all pay the price to
your greatness and those prices are the challenges and difficulties and
problems to be dealt with. The inability to handle these problems has led
people to give up on their dreams. Prepare to pay the price for your greatness.
You can do it.
13.
Self-
doubt: Another factor that is
responsible for the high rate of quitting one’s dream is the problem of
self-doubt. When an individual is looking down on himself or herself that he or
she is not good enough to do certain things, he or she begins to get discourage
with himself or herself. The moment you become discourage with yourself,
nothing goes right. Self-doubt is a dream killer.
14.
Loss of
hope: Hope is the unshakable confidence that one has. It is the belief that
God is going to reward you if you do what is required of you. Most people who
have hope find it hard to do what is required of them. And by their negative
actions, they begin to lose their hope on their dream. The more they tend to
lose their hope, the more they give up on their dreams. Having hope is a great
virtue. It helps you to stay strong on your dream.
15.
Loss of
faith: Faith is the confidence that you have not just in yourself but in
your dream and in God. When you do not have faith in yourself, you cannot have
in God why? Because God himself trust in you as well to be able to do the
things that are possible. The lack of faith in yourself will lead to loss of
faith in God and in your dream. And when you no longer have faith, your dream
becomes meaningless to you. And when your dream becomes meaningless to you, the
probability of giving up such dream is very easy or high.
See
you at the top. Do not give up on your dream.
